The Dream of Pontius Pilate

March 15, 2018

The Dream of Pontius Pilate is a new musical piece written for symphonic orchestra and choir by the Bulgarian composer Stefan Dimitrov (°1949).

The Dream of Pontius Pilate is inspired by The Master and Margarita. It will have its world premiere on May 29, 2018 at the Bulgaria Hall in Sofia, performed by the Sofia Symphonics orchestra, under the baton of conductor Ljubka Biagioni zu Guttenberg (°1968). A second concert is planned on June 13, 2018 at the Ancient Roman Theatre in Plovdiv.

Designer Polina Gerasimova will use 3D mapping technology to illustrate the dramaturgy of the music and to create a spectacular and memorable setting.

The Dream of Pontius Pilate coincides with the Bulgarian presidency of the council of the EU. The Bulgarian National Radio BNR and Nova TV are the media partners. BNR will record the concert and broadcast the recording on its Hristo Botev station, and Nova TV will broadcast a video recording of the show.
