Oldřich Daněk (1927-2000) was a Czech writer and film maker, born in Ostravain the former Czechoslovakia. He studied at the theatre faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU).

In 1945, while he was still a student, he started working for the Petr Bezruč Theatre in Ostrava. After his graduation, he became the director of the Václav Klicpera Theatre in Hradec Králove. From 1954 on, he was the artistic leader and director of the F.X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec. As a director he made full feature films as well as television series, and he also wrote a number of radio plays.

In 1991, Oldřich Daněk made the TV-film Pilát Pontský, onoho dne, which could be translated as A Day Of The Life Of Pontius Pilate. The film had been commissioned by the Czech television and tells the biblical story from The Master and Margarita.

To my knowledge, the film was never released on DVD or video casette, but you can watch it on this website.
