After 17 years of discussions and negotiations, this film was officialy released in the Russian cinema theatres in April 2011. The film you can buy on this page is the re-mastered official 118 minutes version which is shown in the cinema theatres, and which we subtitled in English, German, French and Dutch.

Older version - In the 17 years during which this film was under embargo, there existed an unofficial DVD, sometimes referred to as the 205 minutes director's cut. It was made in 1994 and contains many scenes which were left out in the final official cinema version from 2011. This director's cut DVD is also available on this website, but we should warn you that the image quality of it is far less than the re-mastered film presented on this page.
