English > Adaptations > Films > Animation films > Alexander Golberg Jero

Alexander Golberg Jero is a classically trained musician, who graduated from the Moscow Music College and State Academy in 1996, and then moved to New York where he studied at the Parsons School of Design. Now he lives in Detroit, where he is involved in making techno music.

In December 2017, Jero announced that he is working on a computer-generated film version of The Master and Margarita.

We could already see images of about 25 characters and we could listen to five pieces of music.

The studio that was selected to make the animations is the award-winning Colombian animation studio Venturia Animation. The film aims to attract the widest possible international audience and will therefore be distributed in 2 different versions, a version R (Restricted) for adults, and a version PG-13 (Parents Strongly Cautioned), intended for viewers from 13 years old on. To give you an idea of the differences, we have placed screenshots of the two versions on a separate media page. You can watch them with the link at the bottom of this page.

Contacts have been made with renowned actors who will take care of the voices of the characters.

The total budget of the film is just under 18 million dollars. Media entrepreneur and co-producer Matthew Helderman, CEO of BondIt Media Capital, is responsible for collecting the necessary funds. BondIt has previously provided funding for more than 150 feature film and television projects, ranging from micro budget films to large studio projects. As an Executive Producer Service Provider for the Master and Margarita project, Helderman is looking for another investor who is willing to contribute 25% of the film budget.

Latest news

January 25, 2022

For nearly four years we have heard virtually no news about the progress of Jero's project. It's not that we don't hear anything from him. On the contrary, we regularly receive messages, but in none of them did we read anything that he had not told us before. Until yesterday, when he published the following press release on the news website Newswires: «Alexander Golberg Jero has dreamed of making 'The Master and Margarita' into an animated film that will be recognized for generations. Turning this story into an animated film was the only thing that made sense. Jero is taking his unique vision and transforming it into a masterpiece that is going to be setup to win an Oscar in 2025».

So it seeems dat Alexander Golberg Jero is still self-confident, but we know that since he first contacted us four years ago. He should, however, get some sense of reality because, despite the fact that we were told four years ago that his film would be produced by the award-winning Colombian animation studio Venturia Animation, it appears that Jero is still looking for a studio. And his standards are high, because he wrote: «Alexander Golberg Jero is currently in the process of the selection of the Major Animation or Film Studio to continue the production of this film. Studios that are welcome include: Walt Disney Studios, Sony Pictures, WarnerMedia, NBCUniversal, ViacomCBS, Amazon Studios, Netflix and any interest big budget entities». Or, to stick to his style, the big film studios will have to hurry to come up with proposals, or else they might miss the opportunity to work with Alexander Golberg Jero and win an Oscar in 2025.
