SandPro is the name of a non-profit organisation for which everything has got to do with sand. The initiative was launched in 2001 by the Moscow based communications group Antipod.

SandPro has got workshops in several Russian cities, and in some cities of former Eastern Bloc countries. Originally these workshops were designed for preschoolers, but now both adults and children can have fun in what is called a communication with sand. By making drawings with sand, the participants, accompanied by trainers and psychologists, get the opportunity to express themselves and to develop their creativeness in a unique non-verbal manner. This can be done in short, one-time sessions, but also in long-term developmental programmes or even as part of a therapy.

In addition, the people of SandPro make videos telling stories with sand. Sometimes, those videos are commercial assignments for companies like Gazprom, but sometimes the SandPro people create own original projects, or visualise famous literary works. In 2013, the SandPro department in Prague, Czech Republic, for instance, made a sand animation based on the satirical novel The Good Soldier Švejk by Jaroslav Hašek, and a year later they did it again with The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov.
