The movie El Maestro E Marghuerite directed by Aleksandar Petrovic was for a long time the only film based on the novel. As such not a bad movie, but it can hardly be called a faithful reflection of the book, not even of its spirit. Petrovic neglects many details of the book, but his most terrible sin is the fact that, believe it or not, he gives a name to the master.
