The Slow Cooked Bears is an alternative rock band, based in South East London, and created in 2017 by guitar player James Gilbert and bass player Hyunsu Lee. In August 2017, Gareth Tarling joined the band on drums.

The band name came about from taking the time and slowly enduring - «bearing» with it - to create and hone their sound. They were also inspired by the fact we are all being «slowly cooked alive» by global warming and the animal world are paying the highest price.

The Slow Cooked Bears announced that they were preparing for their debute recording for an EP. In May and June 2018, they published photos on their Facebook page of their recording sessions at The Music Complex in Deptford, London. In July 2017, they had already published a demo version of their song The Master and Margarita.
